What is the ELP?
The Environmental Leadership Program is offered through the University of Oregon Environmental Studies. The program partners student teams of juniors and seniors with community partners to make a meaningful impact addressing environmental needs in the Eugene area. Through a service-learning model, the ELP provides participating students with valuable professional experience and problem-solving skills. A variety of projects are offered yearly under the two umbrella categories of Environmental Education and Conservation Science in Action. The program is a two term engagement with the first focusing on preliminary research and planning while the second provides time for teams to engage in actual field work, producing a number of deliverables for their community partner. All teams present their work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at the end of spring term.
