The Trails Team is an accessibility-focused research team guided by the principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity. We aim to make sure everyone can find the right trail for their needs at the time that they need it. In pursuit of these goals, we have done extensive literature reviews, developed trail analysis tools, and are currently working on compiling trail accessibility data for our partner, Eugene, Cascades and Coast. Our work will allow people to more easily identify trails suitable to their individual needs while also helping to concentrate tourism impacts more broadly across the variety of trails in our region. As part of our work, we will present our research at the University of Oregon Undergraduate Research Symposium. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, our team's field work plans were disrupted. Instead of collecting accessibility data by visiting the trails themselves, we have adapted our project to ensure continued progress toward accessible trails. We are now focused on gathering trail data from preexisting sources, which we are organizing and delivering to our partner. This data is being used to update and expand their website's list of trails, which will improve the experiences of those seeking the right trail for their needs. We have also been focused on content creation. Our team is contributing 14 professional blogs to the Eugene, Cascades and Coast website. These blogs focus on topics ranging from outdoor etiquette to tips for solo female hikers.
